About

Americana Madonna Lillie Mae Rische explores loss, hope, and attachment in her first album in four years, Festival Eyes. Forging a way via glitter and velvet, Lillie Mae is a songwriting pioneer that represents an approach to life and love with which ladies across the nation have found it easy to connect. Her album Other Girls was produced by Dave Cobb and her first album with Third Man Records, Forever and Then Some, was produced by Jack White. Both garnered national attention among one of the most marketable audiences; young ladies in love.

Rolling Stone describes Rische as an artist in her breakout season. Pitchfork calls her "deliciously scorning” and a “Nashville Spitfire.” She became “one of the city’s most sought-after session players” (American Songwriter) with her writing and fiddle playing, performing on Jack White’s first two solo records and signing to Third Man Records. She has since played and recorded with Jim Lauderdale, recorded on a blues series for Third Man Records with Dwight Yoakam and Michael Kiwanuka, played shows alongside Margo Price, has opened for Tyler Childers and Lukas Nelson, and has opened for and played fiddle with Robert Plant. Rische has also recorded with Samantha Fish, Luther Dickinson, Italian artist Zuccero, as well as performed and recorded with Ronnie Milsap. She has shared the stage with Willie Nelson and Neil Young, and is a favorite to Nashville’s favorites.

Her style combines acoustic picking with electric “swamp sounds” (Pitchfork) to produce an American roots aesthetic that expands across the genres of country, rock, bluegrass, and americana. This style, of which, Lillie Mae brings to the current folk/americana revolution paved by Chris Stapleton, using her poetry to connect with women of the genre. She started recording Festival Eyes in 2021 with Texas producer Beau Bedford. Sister Scarlett provides the foundation of bluegrass heritage via mandolin and this combines with brother Frank and husband Craig’s electric guitars to elevate sounds we have flirted with these past ten years of folk to an ethereal level.

Lillie Mae combines the sounds of the midwest with that of the southeast to trailblaze the lyrical exploration of a life lived on one’s own accord that frees women folk-lovers everywhere. In “Wild and Free,” Rische ponders over the availability of freedom in a woman’s life saying, “I love the thrill of what I do, but is it for me or is it for you?” Festival Eyes stands as a testament to the consummate artistry of Lillie Mae Rische; a folk masterpiece that goes beyond musical boundaries and propels her into the forefront of an anomaly in americana music.

Lillie is currently touring with Post Malone as his fiddle player. You can catch her at any of his 2025 BIG ASS Stadium Tour dates.
